Brian Eno Calls On Backing to Get Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Festive Top Spot.

A charity drive is aiming to send a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The project seeks to send support to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Possibility for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians this festive season. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be incredible if that happened, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely let down if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a thing unto themselves.”

Defiant Message of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.

“It has a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Contributing Musicians

The song was recorded after a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the rendition was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.

The diverse array of artists featured on Lullaby encompasses a group of acclaimed names from the industry. All were part of the September show, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for charitable causes.

Production and Release

Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of music creators. The song blends a combination of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.

The group managing the campaign have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These proceeds will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.

“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a spokesperson explained. “We aim for as much as possible. Obviously, the more the merrier. It all goes out to Gaza.”

The reality in the territory was characterized as its widespread damage, with a vast majority of property described as levelled or seriously harmed.

“Given that reality, a few million won't make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is first of all spreading knowledge of this plight and showing that another narrative exists.”

The track is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from later in the month.
