The UK is set to progress with utilizing the entire amount of seized Russia's holdings to support the Ukrainian defense operations, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a shared declaration, the heads of state of the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany stated that this unified step would heighten pressure on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and compel Russia to come to the table.

They further noted that the initiative would be implemented in close cooperation with the US.

UK penalties have blocked more than £25bn of Russia's funds since Russia began its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. However, up to this point, resources allocated to the Ukrainian government using Russia's holdings had exclusively been drawn from earnings and returns accrued on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, the French Republic, and Germany were in agreement in their aim to advance efforts toward employing the total worth of the seized Russian sovereign holdings to end the war.

He added that more restrictions in the coming days and weeks would increase the strain on Russia.

This declaration is subsequent to EU representatives gathered in Copenhagen previously to consider employing immobilized Russian holdings for a €140bn loan to Ukraine.

In the previous month, US President Donald Trump encouraged G7 allies to seize or employ immobilized Russian holdings, as reported by reports.

The worth of immobilized Russia's holdings in the EU is assessed to be approximately €211bn.

President Zelensky calls on Britain's Sir Keir Starmer to participate in the PURL program

The Russian government executed large-scale missile and drone strikes across Ukraine on Friday, causing electricity outages in many areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, and several other zones.

A pair of individuals were fatally injured and no fewer than 20 people were hurt in the attack, authorities in Ukraine reported.

In a message on an online platform following the strike, Zelensky commented that the premeditated assault aimed at public and utility structures.

"What is required is not empty words but firm measures - from the US, Europe, and the Group of Seven - in providing anti-aircraft weapons and enforcing penalties," he wrote.

"Each restrictive measure weakens the Russian war effort," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.

In the same period, Zelensky informed media outlets he would urge Sir Keir to join the PURL program, under which partner nations purchase weapons from the United States to give to the Ukrainian forces.

While praising the Britain's firm backing for Kyiv, he remarked it should send a clear signal that it would engage in the system, as well as enforce additional restrictions on the Russian Federation.
