Ex- Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors report that a former doctor has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults against 38 victims who were under his care.

Details of the Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

List of Charges

Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.

Authorities are urging individuals with information to contact the relevant police force.
