Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Compounds England's Injury Problems.

'Significant concern' for England after Atkinson is forced off with a hamstring injury.

The pace bowler further complicated the fitness woes of the England squad after leaving the playing area early on day two of the Boxing Day Test versus the Australians.

The pace bowler experienced discomfort in his left hamstring immediately following a delivery in his spell at the MCG.

Team management stated the 27-year-old felt some "soreness" and would spend time on the sidelines for further assessment "over the next few hours".

The final Test of the series at the SCG gets underway on Sunday, 4 January.

The visitors have been without fast bowlers Mark Wood with a knee problem and Jofra Archer with an abdominal strain during this series.

Matthew Fisher was added to the party as injury reinforcement.

Atkinson struggled during the first two matches, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.

He was omitted of the third Test, then recalled for the Melbourne Test as Archer's replacement.

The county bowler improved at the MCG, bagging two scalps with the ball, then making 28 as a batsman among just a trio of English batsmen who passed ten runs.

Following a brief spell in Australia's second innings, he came back on Saturday morning and removed Scott Boland Scott Boland caught behind.

Unfortunately, at the end of that over, he sent down a change of pace to the batsman and immediately felt at his leg.

The English bowler was recalled for the Melbourne match after being left out the previous Test.
