Football Expert Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Top Flight Predictions

Arsenal's 10-game winning run was ended by Sunderland prior to the global hiatus, but will the Premier League leaders bounce back against local foes Spurs this weekend?

"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this game," remarked football specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still manage to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this season, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of guests.

In the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.

Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.

Soccer and Parenting Experiences

Murs is a skilled footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of multiple Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a player.

"{I recently played in a benefit match the other night for a mate of mine," he said. "The team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you want!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it properly again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or boy chooses to play instead."

The singer and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, Madison and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their coach.

"I won't push football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their weekend football side," he added.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a while too.

"My father coached with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our team for several years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Top Division Forecasts

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their attack is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their only home defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

It smells of a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have lost their previous couple games - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, West Ham secured back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they appear strong again.

West Ham's sole on the road win this season came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's manager.

Therefore, what exactly do I predict here - will it be the Hammers extending their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I will go with Bournemouth, because I think what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's forecast: 2-0

The guest's outlook: The home team are doing well but the visitors have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the season began, but they have surprised a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three in their past four games.

A family member told me to get Brentford striker Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will likely find the net again on Saturday but I am still not going to pick him or back the away side at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had much fortune on the travel this season, and Brighton are always strong at home. The visitors will try to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's side carry much more of a danger.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

Olly's prediction: It could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it in reality proves to be rather close. 1-1

AI's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge game for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.

Fulham have have lots of talent in their squad but it nonetheless seems like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.

Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

The away side's performance in the two-all draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed anyone else disrupt the North London side like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.

The logical choice to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the end of October.

However I am not going to choose that. Instead, I truly need to carry on opposing the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good results because they clearly love to defy my predictions.

Considering Fulham's home record, the sole side they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be extremely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to predict they will pick up three points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

Olly's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and also that the hosts are on a bad run... but Fulham have still been respectable at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's prediction: 2-0

It is a hard one to call. Liverpool have lost seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but might they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
