NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates features text commentary for the weekend matchups on various channels, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, radio commentary can be heard on designated networks for another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week in the NFL season , following recent discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both lost their unbeaten records.

Striking during those contests was the amount of penalties both conceded. The Eagles did so at crucial times so they kind of beat themselves having led 17-3 entering the final quarter versus Denver, who play overseas this weekend.

However it proved good to observe how Denver's QB Bo Nix was able to have the shortfall and then lead three scoring drives in three attempts during the final period, to win the victory 21-17.

Denver boast the top defender with cornerback their star corner. They rank first in goal-line defense, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet Denver won that contest.

They executed effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They did not always sending more than four pass rushers but they could plug two linebackers in the 'A' gap then withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel from the outside.

At the start of the season, we said during a show how the Broncos might emerge as this season's dark horses. They ended last season strongly then did a good job of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?

Recently acquired TE their tight end has excelled significantly and recent running back JK Dobbins is a player they believe in. He's currently fifth league-wide in ground gains (over 400) and tied for fourth in rushing scores (4).

I love that head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUN IT!" at the top on his call sheet.

That shows that Denver represent a team aiming to prioritize the run, because you can achieve much off the back of that. It slows down the pass rush while keeps you in positive down and distances.

It's also benefited quarterback the young passer, who came into the league as a first-round selection in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – just behind a star QB for the rookie record (31 in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert possess powerful arms to throw anywhere, but they don't move the mobility as Nix. He boasts exceptional arm talent, which is different, and he's highly agile.

His strengths are his movement, being able to pass while moving, as well as finding different arm angles to make the pass as he moves outside protection, on rollouts. He can throw precision throws across the middle and past defenders.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays a lot of poise in the pocket and isn't bothered by the blitz. He aims to avoid a sack whenever possible and can pass in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and is quick to decide.

If you consistently rush it consumes the clock and forces the defence to be in play for longer, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defense has to cover the area downfield and horizontally. It can be draining.

The quarterback has pushed back with the coach during games sometimes and I think the coach appreciates that fire, seeing him as a fierce rival. I think it's exciting for the coach to coach a young quarterback that is kind of like play-dough. He can truly build something up how he desires to shape him. I believe it's a unique opportunity for the coach.

Payton owns a Super Bowl and now surpassed a legend for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He's seen everything. I think the achievements Denver are having on offence is mostly due to his leadership, his play-calling, his game sense – and the combination with Nix helps shape him into who he is.

There's no better a more qualified person guiding you, to help you through difficult moments and build confidence.

I believe in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet is the team strong enough to go against an elite team at its best? Since that wasn't a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles in their last game.

Right now, it's unlikely the Broncos are elite. They're working better than most, that's a good place to hold their division. The key is is maintain this trajectory.

They're really good at embracing their forte, which is running the ball, and that's precisely what they must do against the Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.

The Jets have surrendered 140 yards on the ground per game (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns so far (in the bottom ten), and they're the sole squad without a win any game.

Ever since the league started recording turnovers decades ago, this team are also the inaugural squad to be without any turnovers in five outings, which is surprising when you think that the head coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.

The Chiefs' QB says the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' following a recent loss by the Jaguars.

Following this Sunday's game, Denver have a smooth-ish schedule up to their bye (in week 12) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans and the Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.

In their division, the Chiefs hold a losing record while Denver are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 so they could make a run at leading the West.

This hinges upon what version Kansas City shows up they face because Denver {beat|def
