The Secret Organization is poised to play a huge role in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, even if the real showdown isn’t set to occur until the next season, and a beloved, audience-beloved member has now been chosen.

The platform declared this week that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will portray Bon Clay. Bon Clay possesses the power to transform into an exact copy of any individual they’ve made contact with with their main hand. The performer, who is gender non-conforming and goes by they/them, will portray a rendition of that role reimagined as gender non-binary, rather than as a drag performer, in the real-life adaptation, unlike the source material and animated series.

This performer joins multiple recently announced actors tasked with bringing the organization to life, including chief the main antagonist, brought to life by Joe Manganiello, a talented actress as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who will appear as the cast as the monarch of Alabasta.

Though Bon Clay is a major member of the organization, the individual won’t make their debut One Piece the third season. Given the next season likely to portray the Little Garden segment, this signals a major departure in the timing of the character’s debut, one that could indicate further changes to the narrative framework.

Escola’s blend of precise humor and profound feeling makes them a ideal selection for the role. Along with their current animated role in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and several accolades for writing and starring in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, highlighting the versatility they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s widely praised figures.

The platform’s adapted One Piece show is scheduled to come back for its next installment on March 10th, 2026.
